This marks a new cycle between Mars, the planet of action and drive, and Saturn, the planet of structure and limits. Mars conjunct Saturn tests endurance and in Virgo places the focus on the availability of jobs and the status of corporate functions and the changing of the guards of service positions. It is interesting that as of July 4, 2008, Bill Gates, a Scorpio, has stepped down as head of Microsoft. The conjunction at 5° Virgo 26' forms a tight 60° sextile to his Scorpio Sun, in his solar eleventh house of retirement. There might be a significant number of labor reorganizations under this influence. What is begun now will show key developments or change at the quarter angles and the opposition on the next three dates; Mars will square Saturn on December 15, 2008 at 21° Sagittarius. Saturn will be stationary at that point, ready to turn retrograde two weeks later. The opposition on April 4, 2009 will occur at 16° Pisces. The last quarter square will occur on August 10, 2009 at 20° Gemini. If you have planets within five degrees of 5°, 16°, 20° Virgo you may experience this Mars and Saturn cycle very personally. If you have planets within three degrees of any other mutable sign, Gemini, Sagittarius or Pisces, you may experience a greater awareness of the influence of these aspects. Any planet in your chart in any sign at these degrees will be affected by the strong presence of this conjunction. This aspect can be preceded by a period of hard work, frustration and stops and stalls. It can bring both increased drive with endurance and exhaustion. Expect stress on bones and muscles. This aspect brings the toughest competitors together in sporting events, producing the best in the athletic world. Judges evaluate and scrutinize leaving no room for error. If you are up for a job interview or job review, this conjunction may bring reward for your efforts or bring disappointment to your record. If you have been out of work this aspect may help you to find work. Now and at each of the related three dates, it is time to pay debts and deal directly with any consequences accrued over the past two years to clean the slate. On a political level, expect organized resistance. Strikes and layoffs are high on the list for this aspect. You may be attempting to break down walls or perhaps begin building new ones. Saturn in Virgo brings a new model for the farming and the food preparation industry. Laborers are concerned with healthcare coverage and basic needs on the job. Healthcare in general becomes a greater focus the entire two and a half years that Saturn transits through Virgo. Pets and their care take on a new model. Leona Helmsley died last year leaving her billions to the care of dogs. Her own Maltese dog, Trouble, was willed $12 million but a judge paired that amount down to a more reasonable amount of $2 million after the dog received death threats. Mars heats up the conditions, adding the action taken in concert with Father Time. When thinking of Saturn as karma, think of Mars as dharma - the action that creates the karma. In Virgo, analytical and critical thinking are the key to your success as grandiose schemes are not likely to perform. The indications may create a long-term commitment in the areas of work with devotion in service to others. The last time Mars and Saturn reached a conjunction in Virgo was June 1980 at 21°Virgo. However, the last time this pair was conjunct at the current position of 5° Virgo, was December, 1742 and January, 1743. Mars and Saturn are not the only cosmic players this week as both Mercury and Venus change signs. Mercury enters Cancer on July 10 and Venus enters Leo on July 12. The best days to initiate your goals this week are Saturday July 5 through 6:04 a.m. on July 6th. Also a good period to take action is on Thursday July 10 from 4:15 p.m. until 10:15 p.m. Venus will make a lucky trine with Uranus on Sunday at 2:32 p.m. while it is aligned with Jupiter in a split parallel through July 7. This is a very good setup for taking chances with love and money, although there is risk involved. The Best Day(s) this week for taking action to forward you endeavors are: Saturday July 5 through 6:04 a.m. on July 6th. Also another good period to take action is on Thursday July 10 from 4:15 p.m. until 10:15 p.m. The Good Days are determined by a positive last aspect from the Moon to the planet at the latest degree in the sign. This last aspect begins the void of course Moon period. For now and until November 26, 2008 our Good Days are once again hinged on a positive aspect to Pluto now at the very end of Sagittarius Positive aspects are 60° sextile, 120° trine, parallel, contra parallel also called split parallel and sometimes a 0° conjunction. Pluto presents as a demanding hungry hound, requiring you feed him before tending to other needs. Pluto's appetite for control and money can be likened to a bottomless pit. In any given day you can recognize Pluto as the money lender, the police, the trash collector, the undertaker, the collector of fees and taxes or any one whom you feel lords over you. Expect to deal with those in human resources. For some it is alimony and wills. Your debts are a priority as are processing claims for losses. For some it is foreclosure and bankruptcy. Once the dreaded event is passed the release is its reward and can be empowering. Some losses may occur from extreme weather conditions. Many people are rehabbing their home and not moving. Surgery or minor medical procedures are often indicated when the Moon is in Pisces with the last aspect then square to Pluto. I have been studying these events over the past few years, noticing how many such events take place during the Pisces Moon square Pluto, and how well they have been turning out. Another positive note is the ability to let go and forgive where you had held on to the pain and regret for so long before. The past may be dredged up in a powerful manner although it may be of a surprise to learn the issues are not as difficult to release as you anticipated. Pluto is far more painful for issues kept buried. The power is in the release. As with most matters it is the angst building up to judgment day that is worse. If you can, think of Pluto, now in its few months in Sagittarius, as offering the opportunity to release pent up blocks for the purpose of gaining or regaining your power. Once you face your demons you will regain your confidence and be able to move forward to reach new goals. If another planet is very late in a sign then their symbolism will have the last word when the Moon forms its last aspect before leaving a sign. The less common parallels and contra parallels are considered in my work, when determining the beginning of a void of course Moon period. Moon "Out of Bounds" Since the summer of 2001 the Moon has been traveling very high in the sky because its range in declination shoots beyond the 23°27' line at the Tropic of Cancer in the northern sky and beyond the 23°27' Tropic of Capricorn in the southern sky. The Sun reaches its maximum north or south declination at these two boundaries at the summer solstice and winter solstice. When the Moon travels very high into these out of bounds zones it is not only higher in the sky but we seem to have stronger emotional reactions to events during these times. If a planet is adversely situated by a square or an opposition to the midpoint then this indicates difficulty coming to agreements or obstacles in the path. These midpoints do not follow an obvious pattern, but there is a pattern. The point will move along in zodiacal order for a while and then pops over to the opposite side of the zodiac after the Moon and Sun oppose at a Full Moon. When the Moon/Sun midpoint travels through Fire Signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) people are more adventurous, romantic and open and direct with one another with creative ideas. This Yang or Masculine element embodies the most enthusiasm allowing people to engage in more outgoing activities. This is a dynamic element with an enchanting quality. Expect spontaneity along with the lack of reflection. This can be a to encourage other to let bygones be bygones and live life for today. When the Moon/Sun midpoint travels through water signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, people's interactions are more private. Activities are conducted on an emotional level or emotional topics that affect the next step based on how things feel. All the water signs have secretive characteristics when dealing with others. Meetings tend to be private and operating with hidden agendas or with the person on the inside when the midpoint travels through water signs. Expect passive/aggressive behavior with Cancer. Invitations are considered an honor and are reserved for those considered as family. When the midpoint travels through Scorpio people join to sort through estates and important financial matters. Sexual agenda becomes more important and pregnancy is more likely. Insults lead to brooding. Psychological slights are easily passed without intention but reap havoc in relationships. This point traveling through Pisces increases sensitivity to others and compassion leads to generosity of spirit. However self pity can be an issue. Joined spiritual endeavors are more enriching. The Moon/Sun midpoint traveling through Air Signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius). People tend to be more socially available with intellectual exchanges when this point travels through air signs. People react to one another based on what they think and less how they feel. Information and gossip flows easily with the Gemini midpoint. You are more likely to travel in pairs or make a friend while traveling with the midpoint in Gemini. Couples are more open to agreements and compromise when the midpoint is in Libra. Legal matters flow more fairly. Gatherings with friends and meeting in groups can be noted with the midpoint in Aquarius. It is a marriage point of sorts – or a merging or compromising point. It may help to learn what energy promotes this agreement point between family members, other people or companies. A Moon sign period begins when the Moon enters a new sign and remains in effect until it leaves that sign. A Difficult Day can bring unwanted complications for the end result of your objectives. By choosing a Good Day and before the void of course Moon period, you increase you chances for a smoother and more favorable outcome.
