Both swelling emotions and lifted spirits can be associated with the Moon at these extreme positions that occurs for a 4-5 day period, twice a month for this next year. The Moon remains oob through Tuesday's Capricorn New Moon and does not return until nearly midnight of the 9th. This will add emotional drive to a highly competitive New Moon environment. Directly from The Secret, this is the combination necessary to gain your heart's desire. Pack your dreams with intense feeling for your desired effect. In addition to the Moon's extreme declination it will disappear into its darkest phase beginning 11:04 p.m. January 6, until it reappears Wednesday night. The official dark Moon period ends at 1:29 p.m. January 9th. The dark phase is a time best left for contemplation of your intentions by which you rely on powers of attraction to bring fertile seeds to plant in your future garden. The 17° Capricorn New Moon has a quality of excitement with a 60° aspect to Uranus in Pisces and Pluto precariously perched at the threshold of Capricorn. It would appear that the Capricorn goat requires a quick response while mountain climbing and take special care of the ligaments of the knee. Mars and Pluto are still within orb of their opposition that began on September 21, 2007. This can imply seething aggression on one hand however the more aggressive Mars is retrograde and imposing its brutal force more passively when the opportunity arises. Everything is planned however the flaws are many. Passive aggressive actions speak loudly, such as threats and with Mars in Gemini, gossip is a terrific weapon however, it comes back to haunt the offender with far greater wounds. The opposition speaks to the exposure of the perpetrator. The Sabian Symbol for the degree of this New Moon is: a union jack (flag) flying from the new British destroyer. If any fortunes be told by the Sabian Symbols we might image the UK military is ready for action. For this part of the world the symbolism of the new ship accompanies the official launching of the 2008 U.S. presidential race. The Iowa caucus chooses a Leo, Barack Obama and a Virgo, Mike Huckabee as their candidates. New Hampshire's primary will show its choices with Tuesday's New Moon that occurs at 6:37 a.m. With Pluto knocking on the door of government and big business (Capricorn), there is a promise of change. It is not just political logo. Huckabee and McCain are Virgos and Romney is a Pisces and we left the Moon's Virgo/Pisces nodes behind last month for the updated Leo/Aquarius nodes. Obama is a Leo, Hillary is a Scorpio. John Edwards a Gemini. Of course this is an over simplification, however it makes a point. Another point is that this is not the time to bank on any candidate for any position, including close personal candidates. Several reasons beginning with the retrograde Mars that is locked in a holding pattern with Pluto until they finally begin to separate on March 7, 2008. This combination can be brutal as we are reminded of the slain Benazir Bhutto. Mars and Pluto have been dotting tracks since their opposition first occurred September 21, 2007. Another reason not to choose a mate of any sort is the Venus and Saturn square this Sunday. This leaves many feeling its chilly effects. The New Moon chart shows the passing effects of this square. It can be financially painful and structurally difficult, as it leads to soft foundation and soft markets. This week's New Moon also has tracks from the past that may relate to current events. Look back to January 1997 when a New Moon occurred on the same day and a Full Moon at the same 17° Capricorn in July 1998. Another famous New Moon comes to mind that occurred on January 12, 1994. The surrounding events caught everyone's attention with a California earthquake and a famous bang on the knee from Tanya Harding to her greatest rival Nancy Kerrigan. At that time the Sun and Moon were joined by five planets all in Capricorn including Mercury, Venus, Mars, Uranus and Neptune. Pluto was also late in the sign of Scorpio at that time. The competition heats up with Capricorn energy as the desire to climb to the top is compelling. But the positive message is that there is a silver lining that can be used to manifest your desires. Visualize a glorious victory. With a little research these dates will reveal commonalities linking the same sign symbolism and, when studied with a natal chart, will reveal houses symbolism for one or two of the effected houses. Far more interesting is the 205-year pattern formed by Mars retrograde or direct station points at nearly identical positions and dates. All Mars retrograde stations repeat at a 205-year cycle. Currently the November 15 Mars retrograde occurred at 12° Cancer 26'. Looking back 205 years, Mars turned retrograde on November 15, 1802 at 12° Cancer 28'. Back another 205 years Mars stationed at 12° Cancer 20' on November 14, 1597, and so on, looking back at 205 year intervals. Each repeat has its accompanying direct at 23°-24° Gemini on Jan 30-31, in the years 1598, 1803, 2008. In 1802 Thomas Jefferson was the US president. Napoleon was headed to become the Emperor of France in anther two years but in 1802 he was made consul for life. What was called "a practical steamship" surpassed older models with the invention of a stern propeller. This newer steamship transported passengers and goods well into the second half of the twentieth century, until diesel replaced steam and with it our polluting ways were established. --> Transits: 2008 Good Days For three more weeks the Best Days to take action require a positive aspect to Pluto in its final degree of Sagittarius. Halfway through the year Pluto will return to Sagittarius who acts as a hungry hound at the end of that sign, requiring you feed him and his litany of demands before tending to your own needs. Pluto's appetite for control and attention is like a bottomless pit. When other planets are very late in a sign then their symbolism has the last word as the Moon forms its last aspect before leaving a sign. There are some exceptions when the Moon is in Libra and Aquarius it forms a sextile to Pluto; while in Aries and Leo the Moon forms a trine to Pluto. Of course this applies when no other planet transits the final degrees of any sign or equal in declination with the Moon. The Sun reaches its maximum north or south declination at these two boundaries at the summer solstice and winter solstice. When the Moon travels very high into these out of bounds zones it is not only higher in the sky but we seem to have stronger emotional reactions to events during these times. The point will move along in zodiacal order for a while and then pops over to the opposite side of the zodiac after the Moon and Sun oppose at a Full Moon. When the Moon/Sun midpoint travels through Fire Signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) people are more adventurous, romantic and open and direct with one another with creative ideas. This Yang or Masculine element embodies the most enthusiasm allowing people to engage in more outgoing activities. This is a dynamic element with an enchanting quality. Expect spontaneity along with the lack of reflection. This can be a to encourage other to let bygones be bygones and live life for today. When the Moon/Sun midpoint travels through water signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, people's interactions are more private. Activities are conducted on an emotional level or emotional topics that affect the next step based on how things feel. All the water signs have secretive characteristics when dealing with others. A Moon sign period begins when the Moon enters a new sign and remains in effect until it leaves that sign. A Difficult Day can bring unwanted complications for the end result of your objectives. Aquarius is an outgoing air sign ruling friendship and groups that join to exchange ideas and share like-minded ideas.
